 One of HomePage's specialities is remote searching, where we set up a search engine that will crawl and index the entire content of a client-supplied list of destination web sites. This technology (as applied to business-support information sites for the Cornish Enterprise Edge project) allows the client to offer their users a focused, efficient search service covering a specific subject.

Our hosting prices are based on how the site is hosted, and then separately on the bandwidth required by a site.
For the physical hosting we offer three options:
- Space on a shared server (shared with other customers), this can be with or without database access, and is the most common form of hosting
- A dedicated server
- Co-located server (i.e. you own the server and software, we maintain its connection to the Internet)
HomePage Servers (for shared and dedicated hosting)
We procure, configure and install the software on these servers and they are our property. We monitor and maintain them and ensure the servers are backed up. We maintain backup parts and spare servers to move the site on to in case of emergency system failure.
Co-located Servers
You procure the server and software and configure it, we install it in our hosting facility on our UPS. We monitor the server and alert you when it suffers a hardware failure. We will change backup tapes for you and power cycle the server if required, any other hands-on intervention is charged at an hourly rate.
We can also provide a service where we backup the servers and look after them as if they were HomePage servers (we keep spares for current Dell servers).
Bandwidth
Hosting fees include 64Kbit/s of dedicated bandwidth to the server. Additional dedicated bandwidth is charged separately in chunks of 64Kbit/s.
If you exceed the committed bandwidth for two months in a row then we will increase the hosting charge to the next tier for the subsequent months of the contract.
All hosting fees are payable six-monthly in advance, and a 5% discount is offered for annual payment in advance.
The only sites we host on our servers are those that we develop, or for which we have approved the quality of all code. This ensures system and platform stability.
Typical costs
For a site using no database and with "normal" traffic levels, our typical fee for hosting is £1200 per year.
If a database is required and traffic levels are still normal, then the typical price rises to £2400 per year.
Custom prices are charged for higher bandwidth requirements and for dedicated services such as search engine indexing, multiple database services and other non-standard items.
